Winterhop Brewfest is on Saturday
The 21st annual Winterhop Brewfest is from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, at venues throughout downtown Ellensburg. The event features craft beers from brewers around the region, live music and more. Ticket information is on the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce’s website.
Cold Weather shelter relocates
The Ellensburg Cold Weather Shelter will be held at the Four Square Church on Mountain View Avenue through Monday. The shelter will return to the Western Village facility at the Kittitas Valley Event Center on Tuesday.
City opens warming center
With frigid temperatures in the forecast, the city will open the lobby between Hal Holmes Community Center and the Ellensburg Public Library at 8 a.m. as a warming center each day this week.
Faculty recital on Friday
A CWU faculty clarinet and piano recital featuring Josie Wells and Giyong Ahn will be at 6 p.m., tonight, in the McIntyre Music Building. The performance is free.
Valley Theatre presents “Peter and the Star Catcher”
Valley Theatre continues its Winter Play, “Peter and the Star Catcher,” this week at the IOOF Oddfellows Ballroom with performances at 7 p.m. tonight and Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Saturday. The play is based on the novel by Dave Berry and Ridley Pearson. Tickets are $20 for general admission and can be purchased on the Valley Theatre website.
City Council meets on Tuesday
Due to Monday’s Presidents Day holiday, the Ellensburg City Council will meet on Tuesday. A resolution addressing the boundaries and responsibilities for the hillside below Reed Park with Kittitas County is on the agenda.
EHS Winter Musical opens next week
The Ellensburg High School Winter Musical, “Anything Goes” opens at 7 p.m., Thursday at the Morgan Performing Arts Center. The schedule includes 7 p.m. showings on Feb. 21, 22 and 28 and March 1, and 2 p.m. shows on Feb. 22 and March 1. Tickets are $15 for general admission.
Virtual Town Hall on Wednesday
The 13th District Legislators will hold a Virtual Town Hall via Zoom at 6 p.m., Wednesday. Sen. Judy Warnick, and Reps. Tom Dent and Alex Ybarra will discuss the ongoing Legislative session. Registration information is on the League of Women Voters of Kittitas County Facebook page.

High school playoff basketball is underway
In high school post-season basketball, the Ellensburg boys host East Valley at 6 p.m., today, in a loser-out game. The Bulldog girls defeated Grandview, 66-44, on Wednesday and next play at home at 6 p.m., Tuesday against the winner of East Valley vs. Selah. The Cle Elum-Roslyn girls play at 2 p.m., Saturday against a not-yet-determined opponent.
CWU hoops are on the road this weekend
The CWU basketball teams hit the road this weekend. On Saturday, the teams are at Seattle Pacific with the men at 2 p.m. and the women at 4:15 p.m.
LUNCH
The FISH Open Table Lunch is beef and pork lasagna, Caesar salad and chocolate-covered strawberries. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
