Ellensburg City Council meets Monday
The Ellensburg City Council meets at 7 p.m., Monday in City Council Chambers. A presentation of the 2024 Ellensburg Police Department annual report is on the agenda.
Hearing for Cle Elum housing project is Wednesday
The Cle Elum Hearing Examiner will hold a public hearing for the Bullfrog Apartments at 1 p.m. Wednesday in City Hall. Bullfrog Apartments is a proposed three-story, 48-unit multifamily residential complex at 4240 Bullfrog Road. It features a mix of two- and three-bedroom units distributed across two buildings.
Dugmore gets solar panels
Crews recently completed the installation of a 100-kilowatt solar array on the roof of Dugmore Hall. The installation was performed by Ellensburg Solar and led by Project Manager Sam Ellinger, a 2017 CWU Environmental Science alum. The project was made possible by a $473,467 grant from the Washington State Department of Commerce through the Climate Commitment Act.
Ellensburg Big Band plays Friday night
The Ellensburg Big Band performs at the Big Swing Dance, The Ellensburg Swing Out at 7 p.m., tonight at the Ellensburg United Methodist Church. A dance lesson precedes the dance at 6:30 p.m. Donations are accepted to help cover the cost.
EHS Winter Musical continues this week
The Ellensburg High School Winter Musical, “Anything Goes” continues this week with shows at 7 p.m. tonight and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday at the Morgan Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $15 for general admission.
“Dracula” shows this weekend
The CWU Theatre Department production of “Dracula: A Feminist Revenge Fantasy, Really,” continues this with 7:30 p.m. showings tonight and Saturday and a 2 p.m. performance on Sunday. Tickets are available on the CWU Theatre website.
CWU Leadership conference is Saturday
The CWU Leadership Conference is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday in the Student Union and Recreation Center. The conference title is The Power of You, Leading with Authenticity. There will be workshops, keynote speakers and professional development. It is free to CWU students.
County health offers vaccine clinics
The Kittitas County Health Department is offering a series of childhood vaccine clinics from 8 a.m. to noon, at 507 N. Nanum St. on Monday, March 10, 18 and 31. The vaccines are free. Call 509-962-7515 to schedule an appointment.
Ellensburg Academy approaches
The next session of the Ellensburg Academy is from 6 to 7:30 p.m., March 12 at Hal Holmes Community Center. The Academy is a series of civic education workshops designed to inform residents and community stakeholders about city government operations and what is involved in delivering and maintaining services to the residents of Ellensburg. If interested, people can RSVP on the city’s website.
Cle Elum to show Climate Element goals at open house
The city of Cle Elum will hold an open house to review its draft Climate Element goals and policies from 12:30 to 3 p.m., March 11 at the UKC Senior Center. In 2023, the state Legislature required cities to add a Climate Element to their comprehensive plans.

Ellensburg girls to host Columbia River
The Ellensburg High School girls’ basketball team earned the No. 2 seed in the state 2A tournament and will host Columbia River in the opening round at 6 p.m. today.
Cle Elum girls earn No. 7 at state
The Cle Elum-Roslyn girls’ basketball team earned the No. 7 seed and open the 2B state tourney at Adna at noon on Saturday.
CWU hoops on the road this weekend
The CWU women’s and men’s basketball teams take to the road for the final weekend of regular season play. Central men play at Simon Fraser at 7 p.m., Saturday. Central women play at Northwest Nazarene at noon, Saturday.
LUNCH
The FISH Open Table Lunch is meatloaf, mashed potatoes, garlic green beans, a dinner roll and fruit salad. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
