Mural to debut at town hall meeting
A town hall meeting will be held in Kittitas at 3:30 p.m., Saturday at City Hall to debut the mural painted by local artist, Diane Acker.
Demolition continues
The continued demolition of the L&L Building on the CWU campus has expanded the closure area on the north end of Walnut Mall to pedestrian traffic. The building is being demolished as part of a project to construct a 104,200-square-foot building on the North Academic Complex site.
Children’s museum group looking for volunteers
A group working to create a children’s play museum in Ellensburg is looking for individuals with specific backgrounds to serve on its board. Valley Play Museum has posted the backgrounds sought on its Facebook page. The group’s goal is to open a play museum by December 2024.
Pints for Mount Rainier
Dru Bru-Snoqualmie Pass hosts a Pints for the Park fundraiser for Washington State National Parks Fund projects in the Mount Rainier National Park at 6 p.m., Friday. A $1 from every pint and $4 from every pitcher will be donated to WSNP.
Chumlilies take to Thorp stage
The Chumlilies will play a mix of Americana, country-roll and folkgrass at the Punch Projects indoor stage at 2 p.m., Saturday. This is a free, all-ages event. The Punch Gallery, which opens at noon, features the Pet Portrait group exhibition in March.

Open Show deadline April 7
The deadline for submission to Gallery One’s Kittitas County Open Show is April 7. The show is open to all Kittitas County residents and will be juried by Betsy Fethersen. Submission details are on the Gallery One website.
Name of suspect and victim of shooting
The search continues for the 17-year-old male suspect in the fatal shooting of a man in the Jack in the Box parking lot last Friday. The suspect has been identified in court filings as Benny Lee Castizo. The Kittitas County Coroner identified the victim as Christian Guthrie, 21, of Ellensburg. The Ellensburg Police set up a tip line at 509-517-6265 to assist in the investigation.
Cast your vote for historic building
The Windmill Building on South Main Street and the I.O.O.F. Building on North Pine Street have been nominated for the 2024 Community Selected Historic Preservation Award. Votes can be cast on the city’s website or by submitting a written vote to the Community Development Department in City Hall. Voting is open until 5 p.m., March 31. The winner will be honored at the Historic Preservations Award Ceremony on May 4.

Baseball, softball play home games
Ellensburg High School’s baseball hosts rival Selah in a doubleheader on Saturday with the first game at 11 a.m. and the second at 1 p.m. at Rotary Park Field. The Kittitas Secondary School girls’ softball team hosts Cascade in a doubleheader on Saturday with games at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The FISH Open Table Lunch is a fried honey chicken sandwich, roasted potatoes and applesauce. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
