Lincoln Elementary parade honors veterans
Lincoln Elementary School’s annual Veterans Day Parade is 9:20 a.m. today. The students parade around the block. An assembly follows in the gym.
Veterans Day Parade
Ellensburg’s annual Veterans Day Parade is at 11 a.m., Monday, in downtown Ellensburg. In addition to local veterans, the parade features the Ellensburg High School Marching Band.
Family roller skating on Friday
The Ellensburg Dance Ensemble offers open family roller skating at 6:30 p.m., Friday at the EDE studio at 118 E. Fourth Ave. The cost is $10 per person or $25 for a family of four.
Gala slated for Saturday night
The Kittitas County Community Recovery Organization holds it third annual Gala Fundraiser at 5 p.m., Saturday, in Sue Lombard Hall. The event features dinner, live entertainment, a keynote speaker and a silent auction. All proceeds will go directly towards supporting recovery services, prevention programs, and expanding resources for veterans, seniors, youth, and others in need. Rocky Horror Picture Show set for Saturday
“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” will be shown with a shadow cast of CWU performers at 8 p.m., Saturday in the SURC Ballroom. The first 300 attendees receive themed goodies bags.
Fall market on Saturday
The Menastash Grange Hall Youth Fall Market is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday at the hall at 4931 Manastash Road. The market features 30 youth vendors offering woodworking, stocking stuffers, baked goods, soaps, metal art and more. This is a cash-only event.
SPORTS
High school sports shifts into postseason
In Friday night high school football tonight, Ellensburg travels to play Ephrata for its final game of the season. Kittitas travels to La Salle for its last game of the season at 6 p.m. Cle Elum-Roslyn enters postseason play at Brewster at 4 p.m. A win advances the Warriors in the playoffs.
In other high school sports, the Ellensburg volleyball team swept Selah in three sets in the district finals on Wednesday to advance to the State 2A Tournament Nov. 15 and 16th in the Yakima Sundome. The Bulldogs soccer team defeated Prosser, 3-2, on Tuesday in the district tournament final to advance to the State 2A Tournament starting Tuesday. Ellensburg’s boys and girls cross country teams compete in the State 2A meet in Pasco at noon on Saturday.
Kittitas volleyball plays Warden at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, in Quincy in the district tournament. Cle Elum-Roslyn’s soccer team plays Highland at 3 p.m., Saturday at the CWU Rec Sports Complex in the district finals. Both teams have qualified for the State 2B tournament.
Wildcat basketball hosts Challenge
Central’s men’s and women’s basketball teams host the Great Northwest Athletic Conference-California Collegiate Association Crossover Tournament this weekend. Multiple games with teams from each league will be played. Central women play Stanislaw State at 12:30 p.m., today, and the men take on Cal State San Bernardino at 7:30 p.m., today. The women host Cal State East Bay at 3:30 p.m., Saturday and the men play Cal State Monterey at 1 p.m., Sunday.
CWU football hosts Sal Ross State
The CWU football team hosts Sul Ross State at 6 p.m., Saturday, at Tomlinson Stadium. The Wildcats are in third place in the Lone Star Conference with a 5-2 league record. This is Sal Ross’ first year competing in the Lone Star Conference.
LUNCH
The FISH Open Table Lunch is Italian ciabatta, roasted parmesan potatoes and mixed fruit. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
