Sandbags available
The city of Ellensburg has made sandbags available to residents at two locations:
• 7th Avenue & Cascade Street in West Ellensburg
• Kiwanis Park parking lot (Main Street and 14th Avenue).
Residents may place the sand into the sandbags and take them to their property to protect them in the event of a local flooding threat.
Holiday closures
City of Ellensburg facilities will close at noon on Tuesday and remain closed through New Year’s Day. There is no Central Transit fixed route or paratransit service on New Year's Day.
State Route 10 closure
According to the state Department of Transportation state Route 10 remains closed in both directions between the junction with State Route 970) and the Thorp Highway intersection due to unstable slope conditions.
Free movie on Friday
“Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,” will be shown for free at 6 p.m., Friday, at Hal Holmes Community Center. People are encouraged to bring their dinner. Doors open at 6 p.m. with Bingo at 6:10 p.m. and the movie at 6:30 p.m.

Local hoop teams compete at Invitational
The Ellensburg High School girls’ basketball team won two games at this weekend’s Central Washington Basketball Invitational. The Bulldogs defeated Hermiston, 74-53, on Friday, and topped Sehome, 62-23, on Saturday. The EHS boys also notched two wins, defeating Sehome, 56-39, on Friday, and beating Hermiston, 61-46, on Saturday. The Kittitas boys team defeated Warden, 73-32, on Friday, and edged Coupeville, 53-50, on Saturday. The Coyote girls beat Coupeville, 48-31, on Friday, and topped Warden, 38-26, on Saturday.
LUNCH
The FISH Open Table Lunch is chicken and wild rice soup and applesauce. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
