Community Thanksgiving is on Wednesday
The Community Thanksgiving Dinner is from 3 to 6 p.m., Wednesday at the Armory at the Kittitas Valley Event Center. The dinner is free to the public and all are welcome to attend. Multiple volunteer shifts and duties are available. Contact the Adult Activity Center at 962-7242 to register to help.
Downtown Awards are on Monday
The Ellensburg Downtown Association hosts it annual meeting and Downtown Awards from 6 to 8 p.m., today, at the EDA office on East Third Avenue. Downtown Awards, recognize individuals and businesses that have significantly impacted the growth and vibrancy of Ellensburg’s historic downtown. Light refreshments will be provided.
Concerts at Central on Tuesday
Two musical performances are set for the McIntyre Music Building on Tuesday. A string studio recital is at 6 p.m., and a Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band Concert is at 7 p.m. Both performances are free and open to the public.
Moments to Remember is on Friday
Ellensburg’s annual Moments to Remember celebration is 4 to 7:30 p.m., Friday in Unity Park and downtown Ellensburg. The event includes the annual tree lighting and caroling by Make Music Ellensburg’ Valley Voice Choir, performances by the Ellensburg Dance Ensemble and DubStep Studio in the State Farm window and photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Thanksgiving at Time Out Saloon
The Time Out Saloon in Kittitas offers a free Thanksgiving dinner for all Kittitas County families from 2 to 6 p.m., Thursday. Everyone is welcome to this family-friendly event.
Shop with a Cop and Firefighter needs community support
Donations are needed to help support this year’s Shop wth a Cop and Firefighter. Donation information is on the Kittitas County Shop with a Cop and a Firefighter Facebook page.
City facilities closed for holiday
City Hall and City facilities are closed on Thursday and Friday in observance of the holiday. City facilities will reopen on Dec. 2. There is no Central Transit fixed route or paratransit service on Thursday. Regular service will resume on Friday.
SPORTS
Central football season comes to end
The Central Washington University football team’s season came to an end with a 28-21 loss to Western Colorado in the NCAA Division II Football Playoffs on Saturday. The Wildcats rallied in the fourth quarter but came up short. Quarterback Kennedy McGill led Central with 112 yards rushing.
Central volleyball wins GNAC title
The CWU volleyball team swept Western Oregon in three sets Saturday capping a regular season in which the Wildcat won the Great Northwest Athletic Conference title for the first time 2005. Central earned an automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs and will find out this afternoon who it faces in the NCAA West Region Tournament.
LUNCH
The FISH Open Table Lunch is broccoli cheddar soup, a biscuit and pears. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
