I-90 closed for rock blasting
Interstate 90 will close near Easton at 8 p.m. tonight for rock blasting. The closure will last about an hour. Rock blasting will happen a couple of times a week throughout the summer, one hour before sunset.
Ladies Night out in Roslyn
The Roslyn Downtown Association hosts Ladies Night Out — Here Comes the Sun from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at participating businesses. There will be live music, a trucker hat bar and a free showing of “Legally Blonde” at 8 p.m. in the Roslyn Theatre.
Make Music this weekend
Make Music Ellensburg holds a youth recital from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, in the Ink Building on Main Street. Make Music Ellensburg also holds a Strum-Along at its new home on Second Avenue at 2 p.m., Saturday.
Northwest Rock historian speaks Saturday
Peter Blecha, author of “Stomp and Shout: The Untold History of Northwest Rock and Roll,” speaks at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Hal Holmes Community Center as part of the Speaker Bureau Series. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Dachshunds (and friends) parade this weekend
Dachshunds and Friends on Parade is Saturday in downtown Ellensburg. The event is open to not just dachshunds but all dog breeds. There are numerous events planned, including the dachshund races, as well as contests such as best couch potato, best wiggle butt and best belly rubs. Josie’s Misfit Ranch sponsors the event and more information is on its website.
Teanaway Trailfest this weekend
The Teanaway Trail Fest to benefit Towns to Teanaway is Friday and Saturday in the Upper County. The event starts with a Kick-Off Party from 5 to 9 p.m., Friday, at the Roslyn Theatre. Saturday features events at Dru Bru-Cle Elum, including live music and a silent auction, and volunteer work parties and bikes. More information is on the Dru Bru website.
Headliner added to Gustfest
The Bonafide Band featuring Nirvana’s bassist Krist Novoselic and Ellensburg’s Mark Pickerel, will perform at the Gustfest concert on Sunday in Umtanum Hall at the Kittitas Valley Event Center. The Gustfest concert is part of the Ellensburg Music Preservation Project to preserve the history of music in Ellensburg. Other bands performing include Star Anna, Hard as Folk, The Roberts, Billy Mac and Sam Albright and Friends, Dan James, and Birdie Fenn Cent. The concert runs from 1 to 6 p.m., is free and open to all ages. There will be food trucks.
Openings on City boards and commissions
The city of Ellensburg has 15 openings on nine boards and commissions, including Landmarks and Design Commission, Planning Commission Diversity Equity and Inclusion Commission and the Library Board. The full list and information on how to apply is available on the city’s website.
LUNCH
The FISH Open Table Lunch is cheese ravioli with marinara, garlic-lemon broccoli and a banana. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
