A Pilot was found dead after a search at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning in Kittitas County



NEWS

The pilot of a Cessna 150 was found dead and the plane’s wreckage was discovered in the hills near Ellensburg Wednesday. Kittitas County Deputies and Kittitas County Search & Rescue volunteers responded last night to a report of the plane that went missing while flying over Kittitas County en route from Yakima to Chelan. A crash site was found around 9:00 a.m Wednesday with the assistance of a Life Flight helicopter. The pilot was found dead and her family has been notified.   


The Ellensburg City Council this week approved an ordinance limiting the use of banners, sidewalk flags and Decorations in the City’s Right of Way to the display of flags as required by law. The Council made an exception for the Boy Scouts allowing them to seasonally place the flag of the United States in from of businesses on recognized federal holidays.


The City Of Ellensburg is holding an open house about transportation safety priorities from 5:30-7:30 p.m. today, at City Hall.

 CWU’s Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) is celebrating Women’s History Month. They will host a panel discussion featuring Michelle Pinkham where they can share their leadership experiences and future aspirations today at 2 p.m. at the CWU Diversity and Equity Center.


Micah J plays tonight at Mike’s Tavern in Cle Elum from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. This show is 21 and over with no cover.


As part of First Friday, ECR welcomes to the Tiny Stage Tinned Fish, ( a six-person folk act)  Supported by banjo, violin, mandolin, upright bass, and more for their first official live performance together. This  will take place at The INK at 405 N Main Street from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.


Also part of First Friday, Saltwater Sky will play at Gard Vinters at 6 p.m, and Kathryn Faubion will play at Valo Cellars at 5:30 p.m.


In other events, Corey Peterson and Dog Bite Harris will play at the Nodding Donkey Bar at 7 p.m.


Daniel Davison will play at Cornerstone at  6 p.m.


Jukebox Central will play Valo Wines Tasting Room at 7 p.m.


SPORTS

The Central Washington Men’s Basketball team will host either #4 Western Washington University or #5 Montana State University- Billings tomorrow at 2:15 p.m. in Lacey in the GNAC Men’s Basketball playoffs.


LUNCH

The lunch today at the Fish Open Table is chicken and mushrooms with peas and applesauce. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.,at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elm Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.


WEATHER                                                                                          

The forecasted high today in Ellensburg is 54 degrees. Sunset is at 5:55 p.m., and the expected nighttime low is 30 degrees. Winds will out of the Northwest at 16 MPH. The weekend forecast calls for highs of 55 on Friday, 57 on Saturday and 59 on Sunday.
