High school fall play starts today

The Ellensburg High School Fall Play production of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” open at 7 p.m., tonight at the Morgan Performing Arts Center. Other performances at 7 p.m., Friday, 2 and 7 p.m., Saturday, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21, 7 p.m., Nov. 22, and 2 and 7 p.m., Nov. 23. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students.


City offers new online map

The city of Ellenburg’s website now features an online map showing the city’s records of water service line materials for properties in the city.  The map is required by new regulations under the Federal Lead and Copper Rule Improvements, which was created to identify potential health risks from lead and copper which may be present in water delivery systems.


Cold Weather Shelter volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed for the Cold Weather Shelter, which will operate overnight from Nov. 15 to March 15 at the Western Village on the Kittitas County Fairgrounds. HopeSource is operating the shelter. Volunteer registration information is available on the HopeSource Facebook page.


Faculty art exhibit starts this week

The 2024 CWU Department of Art + Design Faculty exhibit opens today at Sarah Spurgeon Gallery. There will be a faculty artist talk at 4 p.m. in Randall Hall Room 117. A reception follows from 5 to 7 p.m. in the gallery. The biennial exhibit features recent artwork by 17 full and part-time faculty, emeritus faculty, and graduate teaching-assistants. The exhibition will remain on view through Dec.14.


Brahms on tap today

Kairos and Stephen Beus perform the Brahms Piano Quintet at 7:30 p.m., tonight at the McIntyre Music Building Concert Hall. Beus is a professor of piano at Brigham Young University, has soloed across the United States and performed in over a dozen countries. The concert is free and open to the public.

 

Open Door Health Clinic is today

The free Open Door Health Clinic is from 6 to 9 p.m., today at Community Health of Central Washington on Mountain View Avenue. The clinic offers care ranging from regular check-ups, minor cuts and lacerations, sprains and strains, skin rashes and infections, management of known chronic conditions, medication refills, exams and sports physicals.

 

Volunteers are needed to help restore shrub-steppe

Volunteers are needed over the next two weekends to help restore fire-damaged shrub steppe off of Vantage Highway. The effort is organized by the state Department of Fish and Wildlife. The work is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday and Nov. 23. Volunteers will gather at Pumphouse Road off Vantage Highway Milepost 22.

 

Ellensburg Holiday Market is Saturday

The Ellensburg Holiday Market is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday at the Kittitas Valley Event Center. The market features more than 50 vendors.

 

SPORTS

Warriors football travels to Asotin

The Cle Elum-Roslyn High School football team plays at 4 p.m., Friday, at Asotin in the second round of the state 2B playoffs. The Warriors defeated Brewster in the opening round.

 

Ellensburg volleyball starts state tournament Friday

The Ellensburg High School volleyball team plays Mark Morris at 10:45 a.m., Friday, at the Yakima Sundome in the first round of the State 2A tournament. Play continues through Friday afternoon and Saturday. The Bulldogs enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed.

 

LUNCH

The FISH Open Table Lunch is egg and bacon scramble, potatoes, a biscuit and peaches. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
