Woman with gun arrested in downtown Ellensburg
Ellensburg Police responded Wednesday morning to a report of a woman parked on the 400 block of North Main Street waiving a gun in the air. After blocking off the area at about 10 a.m., the police negotiated with the woman and took her into custody without further incident. The same woman was the subject of a weapons complaint earlier that morning in Cle Elum. The woman fled the scene before the arrival of the Cle Elum Police.
Kittitas County is developing a homeless plan
Kittitas County in collaboration with HopeSource is developing the 2025-2030 Local Homeless Housing Plan to address homelessness in the community. This five-year plan will include goals, strategies, activities, performance measures, and timelines to eliminate homelessness within the county. Lecture explores Cuban art history.
The CWU Department of Art + Design hosts a lecture by art historian Asiel Sepúlveda from 4 to 5 p.m., today, The talk will be screened for viewers in Randall Hall Room 117, and will also be available online via Zoom. Titled The Plantation’s Smokescreens: Art and Vision in Nineteenth Century Cuba, the talk will explore how lithographic artists crafted new ways of seeing the Cuban landscape during the nineteenth century.
Pint Night supports the Veterans Center
Iron Horse Brewery features a Pint Night to support the CWU Veterans Center from 5 to 8 p.m., today. For every pint sold, $1 will be donated to the CWU Veterans Foundation Fund. Music will be provided by 88.1 The Burg.
Family roller skating on Friday
The Ellensburg Dance Ensemble offers open family roller skating at 6:30 p.m., Friday at the EDE studio at 118 E. Fourth Ave. The cost is $10 per person or $25 for a family of four.
Gala slated for Saturday night
The Kittitas County Community Recovery Organization holds it third annual Gala Fundraiser at 5 p.m., Saturday, in Sue Lombard Hall. The event features dinner, live entertainment, a keynote speaker and a silent auction. All proceeds will go directly towards supporting recovery services, prevention programs, and expanding resources for veterans, seniors, youth, and others in need. Rocky Horror Picture Show set for Saturday
“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” will be shown with a shadow cast of CWU performers at 8 p.m., Saturday in the SURC Ballroom. The first 300 attendees receive themed goodies bags.

CWU volleyball welcomes Alaska team
The CWU volleyball team welcomes the two Alaska teams to Nicholson Pavilion this week. The Wildcats play Alaska-Anchorage at 7 p.m., today, and play Alaska-Fairbanks at 1 p.m., Saturday. The Wildcats are 10-2 in GNAC play, a game out of first place, heading into this week’s matches.
Wildcat basketball hosts Challenge
Central’s men’s and women’s basketball teams host the Great Northwest Athletic Conference-California Collegiate Association Crossover Tournament this weekend. Multiple games with teams from each league will be played. Central women play Stanislaw State at 12:30 p.m., Friday, and the men take on Cal State San Bernardino at 7:30 p.m., Friday. The women host Cal State East Bay at 3:30 p.m., Saturday and the men play Cal State Monterey at 1 p.m., Sunday.
LUNCH
The FISH Open Table Lunch is sweet and sour pork and beef meatballs, jasmine rice and Mandarin oranges. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
