The Ellensburg School District is set to save taxpayers an estimated $1.3 million over the next decade following the refinancing of a bond. The district's board of directors authorized the sale of bonds on April 14 to refinance those issued in 2015.
A blaze that caused $15,000 in damages to a home outside Ellensburg late last week was caused by “unsafe debris burning,” according to Kittitas Valley Fire & Rescue Chief DJ Goldsmith.
The Whitebark pine has been recently listed as a threatened species by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service due to various threats. To increase engagement in five-needle pine conservation in Washington State, Aaron Wells a PhD vegetation ecologist implemented a citizen science monitoring program focused on five-needle pines. CWU Boys Baseball team lost 6-4 to Northwest Nazarene in 7 innings on Saturday
CWU Women’s Softball team lost 12-1 to Western Washington on Saturday.
Ellensburg Boys Soccer team beat Prosser in soccer 4-2 over the weekend.
Ellensburg Boys baseball team beat Grandview 18-2 and 25-2 in five innings games on Saturday.
Ellensburg Girls Softball team beat North Mason 13-5 on Saturday in five innings.
WEATHER

LUNCH
The FISH Open Table Lunch is Artichoke Vegetable Alfredo, which inclues peppers, artichokes, mushrooms, onions, garlic and parmesan. The meal also includes peas and mixed fruit. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
