The City of Ellensburg has introduced a new initiative to tackle juvenile crime by focusing on the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences, or ACEs. The program identifies children affected by aces through police contact and refers them for free mental health support.


The Ellensburg City Council moved to authorize staff to apply for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for replacement of the Ellensburg Public Library and Hal Holmes Center HVAC systems. The Ellensburg Public Library and Hal Holmes Community Center serve as downtown public community gathering spaces. The building also serves as a community warming/cooling center during times of extreme weather.


The City Of Ellensburg announced the City’s new Energy Services Department Director, Mark “Buddy” Stanavich. The Energy Services Dept. was formed through reorganization of the previously combined Public Works and Utilities Dept., to add capacity and better serve Ellensburg’s energy future.


Applications are currently being accepted to fill two vacancies on the City's Utility Advisory Committee.

On Saturday, The CWU women’s basketball team beat Chico State 79-73. The men’s team lost to Cal State Dominguez Hills 77-65


Central Washington plays Eastern Oregon tomorrrow in baseball at 4 pm at the CWU baseball field.

The forecasted high today in Ellensburg is 50 degrees. Sunset is at 7:12 p.m., and the expected nighttime low is 30 degrees. Winds will be out of the  Northwest at 17 MPH


LUNCH

The FISH Open Table Lunch is Teriyaki Meatballs, Jasmine Rice, Broccoli and Peaches. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
