Central Washington University is among many institutions that received a recent “Dear Colleague Letter” from the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices. Central Washington University President Jim Wohlpart addressed the letter saying, “While we remain confident that CWU’s programs comply with state and federal anti-discrimination laws, we agreed that this DCL (Dear Colleague Letter) was an opportunity for us to reflect on and consider how we can evolve our work in order to live more fully into the heart and spirit of our vision.”
The Executive Leadership Team at Central Washington University announced Monday that it has decided to postpone the upcoming President’s Diversity Awards ceremony, citing a limited number of nominations.

On April 12, 2025, over 50 volunteers will descend on downtown Ellensburg for a morning of cleaning, scrubbing, raking, sweeping, and garbage collecting. All are encouraged to join in this revitalization effort from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Snacks and supplies are provided, and Ellensburg Downtown Association (EDA) staff will be on-site to train volunteers on their clean up duties.
The City of Ellensburg is partnering with Waste Management, Central Washington University, and Ellensburg Glass Recycling Cooperative to hold a Ellensburg Recycling Event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025. In Ellensburg High School boy’s baseball on Saturday, Ferndale beat Ellensburg 9-8 (8 inn.) and then Ellensburg beat Ferndale 12- 9 in the second game.
In Ellensburg High School Soccer this weekend, Ellensburg beat Prosser 2-1
Toppenish will be playing in front of their home fans against Ellensburg in Soccer at 6:00 p.m. tonight.
Central Washington’s Women’s Softball team beat Montana State-Billings 12-2 and 18-9 over the weekend.

The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ellensburg Open Table, and noon to 1 p.m., at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg Open Table.
