Hospitality summit today
The Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce hosts the Hospitality and Tourism Summit from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hotel Windrow today. The summit is an opportunity to hear from industry professionals discussing trending subjects and practical strategies.
Visiting Writers Series features poet
Poet Maya Jewell Zeller is featured in CWU’s Lion Rock Visiting Writers Series today and Wednesday. Zeller will read from her book “out takes/glove box: a story in fragments,” at 6 p.m., today, at the Brooks Library Second Floor Commons. She will give a craft talk titled, “Eco-justice and the poetics of spells,” at noon, Wednesday at the Second Floor Commons. All events are free and open to the public.
Bike to Campus on Tuesday
As part of the Bike Month Celebration, Central Washington University is hosting a Bike to Campus Day on Tuesday. Students, staff and faculty who bike to campus will have access to snacks light bike repairs and other amenities.
Sleep Center Open House on Wednesday
An open house to discuss the Sleep Center proposal is from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Hal Holmes Community Center. The open house starts with a presentation, followed by a question-and-answer period. The sleep center also will be the topic of a joint City Council and Kittitas County commissioner meeting on June 13. The proposed Sleep Center location on South Ruby Street drew public opposition and led the council to request the public suggest alternate sites.
Learn about Lemonade Day
An information meeting on Lemonade Day will held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, at the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce office and via Zoom. Lemonade Day is a free entrepreneurship program designed to empower kids with the skills to launch and manage their very own lemonade business. It will be held on Aug. 17.
Music this week at CWU
Concerts and recitals at CWU this week include a concert band performance at 7 p.m., Tuesday, a Jazz Combo Concert 1 at 6 p.m., Wednesday, a Jazz Combo Concert 2 at 8 p.m., Wednesday, and a percussion ensemble concert at 7 p.m., Thursday. All performances are in the McIntyre Music Building and are free and open to the public.
Korean dance performance on Thursday
There will be a traditional Korean music and dance performance from 3 to 5 p.m., Thursday in the McIntyre Music Building. The event features multifaceted artist Che Sehyun and his performance team and members of the traditional dance group, Morado.
Night shift for University Way overlay
Crews of the University Way overlay project will work the night shift this week, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., through Thursday. Driveways and side streets will be closed while the asphalt cools.

Kittitas softball starts state tourney Friday
The Kittitas Secondary School softball team will open state 2B tournament play on Friday at the Gateway Sports Complex in Yakima against the Lake Roosevelt vs. Liberty winner. The time of the game has not been announced. A win would send the Coyotes into the semifinals on Saturday.
LUNCH
The FISH Open Table Lunch is sloppy joe, green beans and fruit salad. The lunch is open to all seniors age 60-plus from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Ellensburg, and noon to 1 p.m., in Cle Elum. Meal sites are the Ellensburg Open Table and the Cle Elum Seventh-day Adventist Church. The community lunch for anyone needing a hot meal is from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ellensburg location.
